Salomon has redesigned its iconic XT_PU.RE footwear model with more sustainable materials, while maintaining its high performance.
This innovation builds on Salomon’s commitment to responsible product development, following the success of the INDEX range, the brand’s first fully recyclable running shoe.
The XT_PU.RE model has been redesigned using mainly recycled and recyclable materials. The upper has been completely reengineered in two pieces, featuring premium recycled PET fibers sourced from complex waste. These materials offer the same fit, comfort, durability, and color quality as virgin fibers. Combined with the TPU sole of the original model, this redesign results in a fully recyclable urban shoe.
Carbios and FENC answer Salomon’s challenge
The XT_PU.RE was developed in partnership with Carbios and Far Eastern New Century (FENC). Carbios’ enzymatic biorecycling technology plays a key role in the process, breaking down PET waste into its original monomers, which FENC then repolymerizes into high-quality recycled polyester fibers. These fibers are processed into durable, high-performance materials that meet Salomon’s strict standards for fit, comfort, and longevity.
Guillaume Meyzenq, President & CEO, Salomon said: “We are proud to support this pioneering collaboration with Carbios and FENC which represents a major step forward in our quest to manage waste produced by our industry and reduce its impact on the environment.”
Salomon remains focused on designing performance-driven products with lower environmental impact, pushing the boundaries of innovation in sports footwear.
